Born in the Zheijang Province, on the East Coast of China, trained as a calligrapher and artist. Wang has been a at the China National Academy of Fine Arts in Shanghai and, subsequently, was the head of the Arts department within the Tiandihui in Singapore. He was the Deputy Director at the Art Display and Decoration Committee of China and taught at the Changming Buddhism Academy in Beijing.
Dedicated to focus solely on his painting and religious practice, Wang Linhai has been living in seclusion since 1996. He very much builds on the traditional Chinese artistic culture, intertwined with the literati and spiritual literacy of skilled calligraphers. He therefore prides himself on his lineage, which can be traced back to one of the greatest calligraphers in history Wang Xizhi.
